Houston 2019 Fall Events Calendar sharing the best in Houston Pumpkin Patches, Houston Hay Rides, Houston Haunted Houses, Houston 5Ks, Houston Fall Festivals, and more.

While fall hasn’t officially started fall activities and events have started in the Houston area. So I’m rounding up some of my favorite things to do in Houston in the fall with my 4th annual Houston Fall Events Calander. It’s got everything from beer festivals, fall-themed 5ks, Halloween parties, and the Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade!

THINGS TO DO IN HOUSTON IN THE FALL

ALL FALL LONG (SEPT – NOV)

Pumpkin Patch/Fall Festival – Blessington Farms is one of my favorite places to pick pumpkins, and it’s family-friendly if you want to take younger ones. Starting Sept 21 you can head out to Simonton for hayrides, hay mazes, and backdrops for fall pictures galore.
Texas Renaissance Festival – Starting OCT 5th and going until DEC 1st, the 45th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival is an annual fall tradition for Houstonians. Giant turkey legs, flute & harp players, jousting and more, the Texas Renaissance Festival is a ye’ ole fall classic. They have a multitude of different events, and themed weekends, so check the calendar before you go.
Miller Outdoor Theater – Located in Hermann Park, Miller is offering up a variety of shows this fall season such as Houston Jazz Festival, Rumplestiltskin, Symphonic Spooktacular, and Georgia On My Mind. The great thing about Miller is as the nights start to cool off, it’s the perfect evening out for a date, or gathering with friends. Bring blankets to sit on the lawn for free, and also bring yourself some wine & dessert. Booze is allowed at Miller!
Screen on the Green – Discovery Green hosts a movie in front of the Houston skyline in their park to all crowds. Grab blankets but no booze, to enjoy a movie every Saturday night for free. Movies this fall include Incredibles 2, How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, and A House With A Clock In Its Walls.
Plays, Concerts, & Musicals – There are vast amounts of fall performing arts being held this season. With the numerous stages and concert venues, Houston has to offer, there is always something for everyone. Find plays and musicals here.
First Saturday Arts Market – As the name states, it’s an art market on the first Saturday of every month. With it getting back into the fall season you can now find this art market in The Heights open from 11am-6pm. With vendors selling paintings, jewelry, food, and other bits & bobbles it’s a fantastic way to spend part of your Saturday.
Charity Races & Fun Runs – When things start cooling down in the fall, a number of charity races are held. From Susan G. Komen to Color Runs to Beer Miles. This is a list of races from 5Ks – Marathons in Houston, click here. Maybe I’ll see you out there!
Houston Texans Game – If you looked up the definition of FALL you would see a giant football under it. Grab some friends, and head out to cheer on your city’s NFL team the Houston Texans! Don’t want to splurge on Texans tickets? Houston is home to some amazing college football teams. Head out to a Rice, University of Houston, Texas Southern University, or a Houston Baptist University game to tailgate and get your football fill!
Ghost Tours – These Ghost Tours are held all year round, but why not go during the most spooky time of year. With Tours in Downtown, Old Town Spring, R-Rated, Midnight, and Child-Friendly themed tours you are sure to meet a ghost or two.
Brewery Tours/Tastings – Most brewery tours have at least one or two parts of the tour that are steaming hot. Which only gets worse in the heat of summer. That’s why I love waiting for those cooler temperatures to come in to enjoy a few brews are one of the many locations in Houston. Come fall a lot of new events pick up at places like Saint Arnold’s and Karbach as well. SEPTEMBER EVENTS IN HOUSTON

Astros Baseball – Through Sept, Catch one of the last baseball games with the Astros and their incredible season! Grab your best baseball cap and enjoy a hotdog at the ole’ ball game!
Scream World – SEPT 13 – NOV 2, Since this doesn’t run through November I’m throwing it at its start date. If Haunted Houses are your thing then Scream World will be the one you want to go to. It’s apparently the scariest Haunted House in Houston. I say apparently because Haunted Houses aren’t my jam, so send me the Instagram Stories when you go!
Rocky Horror Picture Show – SEPT 14, OCT 25-26, NOV 6, If you didn’t know, now you know, I’m a huge Rocky fan. River Oaks Theater plays Rocky once a month, but the closer we get to Halloween the more Rocky comes alive. With a live shadow cast of Rocky Horror Pros playing along with the movie, you’ll be in good company if you’re a fan of Rocky Horror.
Kemah Craft Beer Fest – SEPT 14 – Head out to the Kemah Boardwalk and sample the craft beers of fall. With reps from 8th Wonder, Blue Moon, White Claw and more. Sample tons of different beers from 24 different breweries with live music and giveaways.
Karbach – SEPT 12 & SEPT 17, The local Houston brewery, Karbach, is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a Viva La Cultura Event and a kid’s Frida Paint Party.
Whiskies of The World – SEPT 19, Spend your evening learning how to pair cigars to whiskeys, masterclasses, mixology, and being surrounded by 200+ different types of whiskey.
Karbachtoberfest – SEPT 19 – 21, SEPT 26 – 29, OCT 03-06 — Come out to Karbach to celebrate Karbachtoberfest! Every Thursday-Sunday we’ll have stein-hoisting competitions, oompah bands, wiener dog races, and free live music! Grab a cold glass of beer or hoist your favorite stein as we come together for our annual cheers to German beer. Prost!
BCO Little Library Bike Ride – SEPT 22, Grab your bike and join Bayou City Outdoors to bring a book to donate and ride bikes!
Texas Hot Sauce Festival – SEPT 21 & 22, Do you like things hot? Head out to the Bayou City Event Center to try some of the hottest sauces, rubs, marinades, salsas, wing sauces, and more. With vendors coming from all over the US and further to get your fill all of your triple hot needs!
Game of Thrones – Live Concert – SEPT 27 – Head North to the Cynthia Mitchell Woodlands Pavillon to hear your favorite songs from the Game of Thrones series.
Galveston Island Shrimp Festival – SEPT 27 – 28 – This shrimp-tastic weekend will be filled with a 5k, Cookoff, Gumbo Stroll, Lil’ Shrimp Parade, Live Music, and more. Tickets on sale now!
Oktoberfest – SEPT 27-28, You can’t have Fall without an Oktoberfest! In an ode to the German’s oldest Volksfest, Houston is once again hosting it’s very own Oktoberfest. German beer-soaked in Bavarian culture is a fall tradition for my German ancestry family so you’ll know where to find us! Noch Ein Bier, bitte!
Bargetoberfest – SEPT 28 – Head down to Seabrook to Barge 295 for their Octoberfest featuring some awesome breweries including SpindleTap, 8th Wonder, and Texas Beer Refinery. Entrance is free, just pay for a punch card and try some of your favorite or some new beers from your favorite tappers with German Delights, live music, and more.

OCTOBER EVENTS IN HOUSTON

Houston Greek Festival – OCT 3-6, Houston is hosting its 53rd Original Greek Festival and it will be full of delicious food, music, drinks, and a kid’s area! Head down to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral to enjoy this event!
Houston Korean Cultural Festival – OCT 5, Korean Festival Houston is getting together at Discovery Green for an open to the public taste, sounds, and sight into historical Korean culture.
Pearland Arts & Crafts On The Pavillon – OCT 5-6, Head out to Pearland Town Center for a day of jewelry, pottery, and more from local artists. With a Pop Up Paint Studio, Kid’s Studio, and food trucks for chowing, it’s an event you can bring the family to! Admission is FREE.
Wicked Western Halloween – FRI & SATS IN OCT, Shiver Station host passenger pick up at 7 & 8 PM. Board the Trembling Tram and listen while the Undertaker tells the tale of the ghost town known as Nightville. Ride through Apprehension Acres to Panic Pond to hear the true story of My Darling Clementine. Travel on through Fearful Fields journey past the Ghostly Gallows to meet the Convict. Stop by the Undertaker’s place to see Arizona Killer’s fate. Pass the Lone Prairie to be buried not, then onto the Cemetery. Purchase your pumpkin at the Pumpkin Plantation.
Italian Festival – OCT 10 – OCT 13, This 41st Annual Italian Festival is a four-day event celebrating the culture and history of Houston Italians. The days are filled with dance groups, sidewalk art, language classes, grape stomping, pasta eating contest, puppet shows, and more. With ticket upgrades to wine tastings, beer tastings, and poker events. You could easily do something new and different each one of the days. Grab your tickets now!
Zoo Boo – WEEKENDS OF OCT 11 – OCT 27th, Various Dates in Oct Starting on the 11th, Fun for the entire family, come out and celebrate Halloween with your favorite animals. The Houston Zoo encourages costumes and wants you to bring your best trick or treat bag. With activities, candy stops, temporary tattoos, and a maze! Your little ghoul or goblin is bound to enjoy themselves!
Bayou City Art Festival – OCT 12-13, I adored this event last year. The Bayou City Art Festival sets up in Downtown Houston and is marked as one of the top 10 outdoor fine arts festivals in the US. Bayou City Arts Festival features 350+ vendors of fine arts & craftsmanship. Bringing in large crowds of people, it is one of the festivals in fall to not miss!
Hocus Pocus Pops – OCT 18, Is there a better way to start the Halloween season than listening to the Houston Symphony play the classics from the best Halloween movie of all time! Negative. Head up to The Woodlands, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion to have a spell put on you! The lawn is FREE and for seats, it’s $20.
ArBOOretum – OCT 19, Bring the family out for some trick or treating in the Houston Arboretum. With treats, train rides, live owls & reptiles, petting zoo, and pumpkin decorations, it will be one fun day for the whole family. Tickets on sale now, online pre-order is $2 OFF. Members are FREE.
Wings Over Houston – OCT 19-20, Come down to Ellington Airport and let’s watch the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds put on their annual air show. With a slew of aircraft displays, a carnival for kids, and of course a jaw-dropping air show. This is actually one of our fall traditions.
Scream on the Green – OCT 25 – Head out the 10th citywide costume contest with family and friends for a scary good time. Plus don’t miss out on scary-oke with 90.1!
BeerFeast – OCT 26, Join The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium out in Sugarland Town Center for a day of sampling craft beer. With over 100 craft beer, food vendors, and music, you’ll be debating the fine details of craft beers with beer lovers from all over Houston. Presale tickets are cheaper with various ticket options.
Montrose Crawl – OCT 26, Suit up in your Halloween best for this 13th Annual Montrose Crawl. You’ll hit up 11 bars & restaurants between Dunlavy and Montrose. Places include Brasil, Poison Girl, Pistoleros, Free Press Graveyard, Boondocks, Stone’s Throw, Etro, Catbirds, Doc’s Motorworks, Slick Willies, and El Real. A portion of drink sales goes to Houston Area Women’s Center, so drink (responsibly) & do good!
Spirits & Skeletons – OCT 26, The Houston Museum of Natural Science is hosting its annual Spirits and Skeletons party. With dancing, drinks, and Houston’s favorite food trucks! Is anyone getting Hocus Pocus vibes where the adults go to the town party? Dress up and come dance with your favorite skeletons!

NOVEMBER EVENTS IN HOUSTON

46th British Festival – NOV 4, This holiday-themed event celebrates the British culture and lifestyle. With handmade good, tradition tea room, bagpipers, pub food, dancers, face painting and more. Bring the family out to Sugar Land for an afternoon tea at this event!
Nutcracker Market – NOV 14-17, The Houston Ballet hosts its annual fundraiser/shopping extravaganza at NRG Stadium in downtown Houston. Over 300 merchants open up shop at the Nutcracker Market and it’s one of Houston’s Top Holiday traditions. While you shop for unique gifts for the Christmas season 100% of your admission & event tickets, along with 10% of all merchandise purchased goes back the Houston Ballet Foundation, it’s Academy & Scholarship Programs. Let’s buy all the things!! Tickets go on sale now!
Houston Black Heritage Music & Art Festival – NOV 16th – Head out to Midtown for this 5th annual celebration of African and African American cultures in this community-wide event expressed through art, food, music, and poetry. Tickets on sale now!
TXU Turkey Trot – NOV 28, Put on those running shoes and get your tail feather a moving. The Houston Turkey Trot is a family-friendly event hosted by TXU Energy. This race helps support BakerRipley that helps connect hard-working families with opportunities to grow. Name sound familiar? BakerRipley helped open up the addition shelter at NRG during Hurricane Harvey! So lace up your shoes and hit the road for a Thanksgiving Day morning about giving back to our communities.
Thanksgiving Day Parade – NOV 28, To kick start the Holiday season, join your fellow Houstonians in celebrating the 68th Annual Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade. You’ll find all of your favorites like flying balloons, floats, & live performances. It’s a great way to say goodbye to fall & hello to the Holiday season ahead of you. Free admission!
